Herb Ready To Spice Up IRL Season

Jon Herb announced his intention to run the full 2002 Indy Racing League season Wednesday. Herb will drive for his own Indianapolis based Racing Professionals team with sponsorship from International Star Registry and Webergrills.

"We are excited about competing in all of the races this year,” Herb said “We appreciate the continued support from our long standing sponsors and look forward to working with new ones as well."

Racing Professional’s, which is still waiting to move into its new facility in Indy, will compete with G-Force Chassis and Chevrolet engines which the team bought from Sam Schmidt Racing and Heritage Motorsports.

In addition to Herb, the team will be made up of IRL veterans including former Bradley Motorsports employee Mike Collier (who will serve as team manager, and former Stan Wattles Racing employee’s Harvey Spencer and Ron Heck – head engineer and crew chief.

"I am pleased to be working with such an experienced group of professionals," Herb explained of his crew. “We had a consistent run in the last two races of 2001 and we're looking forward to bigger and better things for 2002."

Herb competed in six IRL events in 2001, his best finish coming at Texas when he placed 9th. The Wisconsin native also made his Indianapolis 500 debut last year, qualifying in the sixth row and finishing 27th.
