Andretti, son of racing legend Mario Andretti and brother to veteran CART driver Michael Andretti, will join the Walker Race team beginning with the IRNLS event in Atlanta on July 15 and will race for the remainder of the 2000 season through 2002.
"For any race team, there are many gains to be had by running a two-car program," Walker said. "With Jeff coming on board, that provides us with a second platform where we can learn and develop a stronger race program in the Indy Racing Northern Light Series. It's a very welcome addition to our team.
"Jeff has driven Indy cars in the past and has sufficient experience to be a compliment to our lineup, and the advent of Emlrockfort to the series is another positive. We're very pleased that they approached us to join the Walker Racing program."
Andretti will join rookie phenom Sarah Fisher on Walker Racing’s Indy Racing team.
"A two-car team is only going to broaden the horizon, and in my case I'll have a driver I can always go ask questions," Fisher said. "It's going to benefit us in many ways."
Jeff Andretti is a proven racer, winning championship titles in the USAC Pro Ford and Skip Barber Formula Ford Eastern Series. He has also earned Rookie of the Year honors in several series, including SCCA, Toyota Atlantic, the Indianapolis 500, and CART.
"I'm really excited about this opportunity and am really looking forward to joining the Walker organization," Andretti said. "I think we can do some good things for the team. I'm also looking forward to having Sarah as a teammate and to racing in the IRNLS."
