Marks Returns To TRG For 2009

"It's a cool deal coming back to TRG eight years after I made my professional racing debut with them in 2000," Marks stated. "We've raced against each other for many years and I have a lot of respect for the organization and what they've accomplished. Kevin and Debra (Buckler) have built a powerhouse team in sports car racing and I look forward to working hard and delivering them a championship trophy in 2009"
Marks joins the team with an impressive history of success in both stock-car and sports-car racing. Following a Grand-Am career that included seven Rolex Series victories and five KONI Challenge Series victories, Marks quickly acclimated to the stock-car world in 2007 and 2008 by earning the respect of his competitors following several top-10 finishes.
"The two years I spent on ovals have really been fantastic in helping me develop as a racing driver. The competition on and off the racetrack is so fierce. It teaches you to take risks, be tough and approach racing with a level of intensity I hadn't yet experienced in road racing," Marks said. "I think the lessons I've learned in stock-car racing will translate well to this program. I am more motivated for 2009 than ever before and I'm really aiming to hit the ground running hard and fast and driving every lap the same way: to win"
Marks is slated to drive his 2009 Porsche GT3 on Jan. 3, 2009 at the 'Roar before the Rolex 24' Grand-Am test days at Daytona International Speedway.
Marks' co-driver, Lally, spent 2008 driving in Grand-Am, ARCA and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and is extremely pleased to be back in a Porsche with such a talented co-driver.
"Justin is an awesome driver and a terrific teammate and I am really happy to be paired with him for 2009," Lally said. "Obviously we have a real shot at the Championship here so both of us will be focusing diligently on maximizing every aspect of this program. We are racing to win"
Lally has been busy driving for both TRG and TRG Motorsports and has become a veritable threat in every series that he competes in.
"Andy and I are friends and have raced against each other a number of times the past few years," Marks said. "I have a lot of respect for his talent, work ethic and attitude and I know we can be a real force together. We have a mutual respect for one another and we will work well together, even though he tried to run me over in the Mansfield truck race this year!"
"It is an absolute pleasure and honor to welcome Justin back to TRG," Buckler said. "Justin had his start with us at Daytona eight years ago and then he had the good fortune to become a factory BMW driver for three seasons as well as spending some time in NASCAR.
"I've been after him for over a year now, and we're all excited to hire him on as a fulltime team driver and to have him join forces with Andy Lally and go after a Championship in 2009 for TRG and Porsche," Buckler added. "He is a super strong competitor and a great representative of the TRG brand and the Porsche marque. He and Andy will be a formidable combination. This is going to be a top of the line program, cutting edge the whole way."
With a number of changes this coming season and a lot of hard work in the off-season, 2009 looks to be an extremely strong season for The Racer's Group. As the winningest team in the series, TRG looks forward to Marks and Lally adding more victories and championships to the team's record books.
TRG was founded in 1993 and has been competing at the top level of sports car racing ever since. The team has the most wins of any team in the Grand-Am Rolex Series with 23, including the 2005 and 2006 Rolex Series GT championship trophy to go along with wins at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 24 Hours or Le Mans.
TRG is a manufacturer and distributor of high-performance racing parts. The group specializes in engine and chassis building as well as full service professional race car preparation. The company also provides electrical and mechanical engineering services, driver development and arrive-and-drive opportunities. TRG is based in Petaluma, Calif., near its home track of Infineon Raceway in Sonoma as well as its new facility in Charlotte.
