Scheckter, 20, pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined an unspecified amount, a Jaguar team spokesperson said.
“Mr Scheckter, who was sub-contracted to work for the team in the role of development driver, recently appeared in court and it is to matters concerning this appearance that the team and the Jaguar Racing board is left with no alternative but to terminate the relationship," said team spokesperson Nav Sidhu.
The firing of Scheckter leaves Jaguar without a test driver, after the team moved Pedro de la Rosa up to full-time driver last month. Sidhu said the team’s options for a replacement test driver remain open, but de la Rosa and Eddie Irvine are likely to split the testing duties.
Scheckter, the son of former Formula One world champion Jody Scheckter, is also competing in the Formula Nissan championship in Spain, and won the first two races of the season last month.
