Chris Buescher just missed Winchester Speedway's ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards qualifying record, but his best was more than enough to top Chad Hackenbracht for the Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell, the fifth of his career.

Eight days after winning at Michigan, Buescher (No. 17 Roulo Brothers Racing Ford) drove a qualifying lap of 15.903 seconds (113.186 mph) to edge CGH Motorsports' Hackenbracht by a mere 0.008 second. Ryan Blaney, who made his ARCA debut last season at Winchester, maintains the track record at 15.837 seconds.

Buescher and Hackenbracht will share the front row for tomorrow's Herr's Chase the Taste 200, which will begin at 2 p.m. with live audio coverage and live timing and scoring coverage at ARCARacing.com.

Chip Mullen, a PPE safety specialist for Ansell, presented the award to Buescher on Winchester's frontstretch.

Buescher's pole is his second of 2012; the other also came in Indiana, at Salem Speedway in April. He had placed fifth and 10th on the practice charts earlier at the half-mile track, not exactly an indicator of where he would qualify.

"(Crew chief) Gary (Roulo) made some wild changes that really helped it," Buescher said. "The car was pretty good in Turns 3 and 4; it was really awesome actually. I'm looking forward to a good race tomorrow for sure."

Last season, Buescher started third and finished second to Dakoda Armstrong at Winchester. Another strong starting position serves as confirmation that Winchester is a place Buescher favors.

"I like this place," he said. "It was real good to us last year and has a lot of character. It's like taking a Cadillac around the place, like a boat. It's a tight joint, and it's fast."

Points leader Brennan Poole qualified third over Venturini Motorsports teammate Erik Jones, and Alex Bowman qualified fifth. Poole earned five bonus points to Buescher's 15, so his points lead was trimmed to 10.

Matt Lofton, Jared Marks, and Clint King will fill out the top four rows. After leading both practices in the afternoon, five-time Winchester winner Frank Kimmel qualified ninth, just ahead of Mason Mingus.

The 200-lap, 100-mile Herr's Chase the Taste 200 will begin at 2 p.m. tomorrow, with live audio coverage presented by the ARCA Racing Network available at ARCARacing.com.
