Rain Changes Iowa Plans

Persistent rain showers at Iowa Speedway resulted in the canceling of all ARCA RE/MAX Series on-track activities Friday afternoon, April 18.

As a result, ARCA RE/MAX Series officials have elected to forego SIM Factory Pole Qualifying originally scheduled for Saturday morning, April 19.

The starting field has been set by 2007 car owner points. In lieu of qualifying, officials have scheduled a 90-minute practice session from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday preceding the Prairie Meadows 250, live on SPEED at 1:30 pm (ET).

That puts Denver, North Carolina's Matt Carter, currently third in ARCA RE/MAX Series driver points, on the SIM Factory Pole for Saturday's race.

Despite being born and bred in North Carolina, Carter has a clear-cut Iowa connection.

Carter, who finished a career-best third last Sunday at Salem Speedway, won the Pro-Cup race at Iowa Speedway last year. In addition, Carter's current car owner, Larry Clement, is a Newton, Iowa native. The no. 46 Clement Racing Ford also carries title sponsorship from Iowa-based company Stine Seed. Associate sponsors' Fort Dodge Animal Health and the National Pork Board are also based out of Iowa. Saturday's third annual Prairie Meadows 250 at Iowa Speedway is live on SPEED at 1:30 pm (ET).
