Hornish Leads Michigan Test

"This is my first time in anything other than an Indy Car here at Michigan," said Hornish. "It's definitely different in a stock car. They run a different line here; it's a little more bumpy, but it's fun. We ran the California Busch race and the tracks are very similar. I'd love to run the ARCA race in June, sponsorship dependent. It just works out that my two off weekends in the IRL are the two Cup weekends here at Michigan."
The full-day open test was in preparation for the June 15 ARCA RE/MAX 200 at Michigan. Erik Darnell, in the No. 99 Simply Wow Cleaner and Degreaser Ford, was unofficially clocked at second fastest.
"We're going to run both the ARCA race and the truck race at Michigan," said Darnell. "It worked pretty good at Kansas. We finished second in the ARCA race and we won the truck race. I love Michigan. It's fun from a driving standpoint. It's big and wide so you can run anywhere on the track."
Matt Hagans, Phillip McGilton and Justin Marks unofficially rounded out the top-five.
From the Michigan test, the ARCA RE/MAX Series heads to Iowa Speedway for the Prairie Meadows 250, event number nine of the 23-race ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The Saturday night, June 2 thriller will be broadcast LIVE on SPEED beginning at 9 p.m. Eastern. Tickets are available by contacting Iowa Speedway (641) 791-8100.
The series returns to Michigan for the ARCA RE/MAX 200 on Friday, evening June 15, 2007. The race marks the series' 26th appearance to Michigan Int'l Speedway since the inaugural race at the 2-mile oval in 1980. Former ARCA RE/MAX Series winners at Michigan include Jeff Purvis, Tim Steele, Chad Blount, Kerry Earnhardt, Casey Mears, Joe Ruttman, Reed Sorenson, David Stremme and Steve Wallace, among others. This year's edition of the race marks the 11th of 23 events on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule and will be aired LIVE on SPEED beginning at 5 p.m. Eastern on Friday, June 15, 2007.
