Kimmel On Salem Pole

Even with a 1,060 pointy lead in the ARCA Re/Max Series standings, Frank Kimmel shows no signs of letting up.

The 39-year-old veteran won the pole for the Eddie Gilstrap Motors 200 at Salem Speedway, Saturday, his sixth of the year. Kimmel’s 113.035 mph speed around the half-mile oval in Salem, Ind. was followed by Tracy Leslie’s 112.818 mph run.

Kimmel has eight wins and 16 Top 5 finishes through 19 races this season.

Jason Jarrett will start third, followed by Shelby Howard and A.J. Henriksen.

Andy Belmont qualified sixth, while Scotty Sands, Vern Slagh, Jeriod Prince, and John Hayden rounded out the Top 10 positions on the starting grid.

NASCAR Winston Cup driver Ken Schrader qualified to start 19th in Sunday’s race.

The Eddie Gilstrap Motors 200, which features over $94,000 in prize money, begins at 2 p.m. ET.
